Crown and Bridge

Crown and bridge are dental procedures used to repair or replace damaged or missing teeth.

A crown is a cap that is placed over a damaged tooth to protect it and restore its function. Crowns can be made of various materials, such as porcelain, ceramic, or metal. They are usually cemented onto the tooth and can be used to cover a tooth that has been damaged by decay, to hold a dental bridge in place, or to improve the appearance of a tooth that is misshapen or discolored.

A bridge is a structure that is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of a series of crowns that are connected to each other, with one or more false teeth (called pontics) in between. The crowns on either end of the bridge are cemented onto the natural teeth next to the missing tooth, or onto dental implants if the missing teeth are not next to natural teeth. Bridges can be made of the same materials as crowns and can be used to restore the appearance and function of the missing teeth.

Crown and bridge procedures can be done in a single visit or multiple visits, depending on the complexity of the case. They require some preparation of the teeth or implants, and may involve taking impressions or making temporary crowns or bridges. After the procedures are completed, the crowns and bridges should be cared for like natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing to maintain good oral hygiene.
